FabBloc Insulating Fabrics
FabBloc insulating fabrics provide alternative protection when flame retardants or intumescent coatings cannot be specified or, if applied, will not reach maximum potential.

FabBloc can be presented as:
  • An insulating wrap, or example around groups of cables operating in a high ambient or pipework;
  • A heat transfer barrier between outer fabrics and cushions for aircraft, bus or train seating;
  • An inner thermal lining for containers designed to convey heat sensitive materials;
  • A composite or hybrid, combining flame resistant paints and insulation where heat attack is rapid and intense;
  • Insulated moulded barrier to various substrates.
FabBloc materials are designed to meet safety risk assessments where HEAT rather than FIRE is the potential problem. If thermal insulation is included in a design specification, the safety margin will be significantly enhanced.

FabBloc fabrics are available in many thicknesses and work to varied performance levels. They can be offered in tubular or flat form, and will typically comprise a blend of aramids and low weight fibres. The blends available will meet a wide range of transmission and smoke/toxicity emissions.

FabBloc have been tested to pass:
  • FAA/JAA burn and durability standards including NPRM 14CFR Part 25;
  • BS 6853:1999 Annex D.8.8 for London Underground
  • FAR 25.283 with leather seat covers
Always check with FPCL Technical Desk (+44 (0)2476 422200) before specifying FabBloc materials; preferably submit a sample.
